Legion Pool offers members one of the best trout fishing facilities in the State. It is stocked with rainbow, brook, brown, tiger and golden trout. These fish are very delicate and require special handling. Unlike most fish which have scales on their skin to protect them, trout have a protective slime on their skin. That is why it is very important to keep the trout in the water at all times. If you have to handle the fish, wet your hands first in order to preserve their protective coating.
We recommend using 4-6 pound test fishing line and size 8-14 hook (no barbs or trebled hooks). A pair of scissors or nail clippers and surgical clamps are also recommended. If the fish swallows the hook, cut the line. If the hook is on the outside of the mouth, use the surgical clamps to remove it. Please, no surgery!! A Trout will digest a hook within a weeks time where damage from rough hook removal often results in critical damage to the fishes throat. Trout are very fragile fish and Land Trust pays thousands of dollars to stock this pool with trophy trout for your enjoyment.
Legion Pool is the first documented case in the State of Connecticut where the D.E.P. has verified some of our golden trout have spawned in the wild. If you see any trout in the stream spawning, please do not disturb them. They spawn in the shallow beds of the stream.
You must be a Seymour Land Trust member to fish in this park and you must release all the fish you catch unharmed. Please ask a fellow member for assistance if you require it.
Thank you
